It might not win a Pulitzer prize, but this spam poetry is actually quite brilliant!

Even though I am not their biggest fan, I disagree with Microsoft being fined for the "near monopoly" (finally someone really calling it what it is: a NEAR monopoly!) by the European Union. Microsoft was fined $613,000,000 and given 3 months to offer a version of Windows XP without the Windows media player (which could pose problems if not prove to be impossible). They also have to make available their programming code to competitors to ensure compatibility.

I may be an Apple fan who resents Bill Gates stanglehold on the market, but I do respect his right to make a competitive product. It is the same as if the tables were turned and Apple was forced to remove Quicktime from OS (which would also pose problems if not prove to be impossible). Maybe I should just be glad that Apple is the cool (read: superior) alternative to Windows.

See! I do write about things other than American Idol!!
Last season's third place winner Kimberly Locke will be performing on tonight's American Idol results show! K-Lo will be performing her new single 8th World Wonder from her upcoming album.

I swear this is not an American Idol only blog! I am just a huge fan of Kimberly, even rooting for her to beat out Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard last season! Alas, it was not meant to be, but her obvious talent still got a record deal!

No, this blog is not merely devoted to American Idol, but this link is interesting if you are a fan of the show at all.

As cited from the Internet Movie Database's celebrity news on March 18, 2004...

"Julie Andrews Sings: Legendary soprano Julie Andrews will sing in new movie The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement - the first time since a throat operation in 1997 silenced her. The Sound Of Music star, who once boasted a four-octave vocal range, was forced to quit her role in Broadway show Victor/Victoria in the mid 1990s when she began having voice trouble. She underwent surgery to remove non-cancerous nodules, but was left without her singing voice. Andrews, 68, has since sung briefly on TV specials in America - but she stunned cast and crew on the new film, by almost recapturing her full voice, to perform a rendition of song "Your Crowning Glory." The film's musical supervisor Dawn Soler says, "She's everything you want Julie Andrews to be - she's such a professional. She nailed the song on the first take. I looked around and I saw grips with tears in their eyes." The original 2001 Princess Diaries starred Anne Hathaway as a schoolgirl who inherits the throne of a small European country and is trained to be a princess by her grandmother (Andrews)."

Since my mom loves both The Sound of Music and The Princess Diaries, I am betting she will want to see this this one!

Now THAT'S a milestone!
Those darn Simpsons! No, not Bart and Lisa, Jessica and Ashlee! Apparently, Ashlee, the younger of the two blonde bombshells, has been signed to star in her own reality television series for MTV, home of her sister’s now infamous Newlyweds. Ashlee’s show, aptly titled Ashlee, will center on the teenage Simpson’s efforts to record an album (reportedly, far less “pop” oriented than Jessica’s offerings). Known for their academic prowess, the Simpson sister’s shows would seem a better fit for PBS than MTV.

Ugh!! Spring break is this week so I should feel relaxed, but until I get caught up with my homework I can only feel stressed out! Having two tests my first week back to class doesn't help my tension level either! To top it off, I have two hours (instead of the usual one) of American Idol to distract me from my homework tonight! I need motivation!!

Krispy Kreme doughnuts making a low-sugar doughnut? I am not sure if that is a brilliant marketing idea, or simply one of the most disgusting things I have ever heard of!

As usual, I agree with American Idol judge Simon Cowell. When asked who his early favorite was, Simon said “If I had to choose one of the 12 now to offer a recording contract without the competition, it would be Fantasia [Barrino], although I think it's going to be tough for her in the rounds." Not only do I think Fantasia should get a record deal simply from what I have seen of her, but I also agree that she COULD have some problems if they have a country or polka themed night on American Idol. Still, she is my favorite going into the finals.

I have to admit my shallowness here: when I learn of a new terrorist bombing in the Middle East, it is easy for me to say "that is just part life there," but when a place like Madrid gets bombed it seems like more of a tragedy. Having been to Mardid myself, reading the news really struck me, but then I realized that any life lost, whether it is here in America, in Europe, the Middle East or anywhere, is a tragedy.

Ok, this is getting a little carried away.

My favorite professor's first book is finally listed on Amazon. There isn't a release date yet, but at least I know where I WILL be buying it from. This particular one is not her doctoral dissortation, which should come out next year, but something she was hired to do shortly after she got her doctorate. She also has another book in the works, though I can't remember any of the details.

So I don't blog very much. Deal with it!
