Oh, Happy Day!

Alias Season 5 begins tonight! Who survived last season's cliffhanger? What's up with the bombshell Vaughn revealed to Sydney? Who will be the father of Syndey's child? Who are these people? So many questions...I can't wait to find out all the answers...and more!

SHOCKING Mission Impossible III Cameo!

Greg Grunberg just filmed a cameo for Mission Impossible III. OK, so it's hardly shocking; in fact I expected it! M:i:III is being directed by J.J. Abrams, and Grunberg and Abrams have been friends since kindergarten, and Grunberg has had a role in every TV show that Abrams has created: Sean on Felicity, Eric Weiss on Alias, and the pilot of Oceanic Air Flight 815 on Lost (which, by the way, had it's highest rating ever this week as it's second season premiered). Abrams definitely has a group of people he likes to work with. Felicity herself, Keri Russell, also has a role (rumored to be the female lead); Michael Giacchino, who does the score for both Alias and Lost, will provide the soundtrack; and Alias scribes Alex Kertzman and Roberto Orci wrote the darn thing. Even though I haven't seen either of the first two Mission Impossible flicks, I will be going to see part three.

New Album from Kevin Max

On October 11th Kevin Max will release his new album, The Imposter. His last full-fledged album, Stereotype Be, was released over 4 years ago, so The Imposter has been a long time coming--of course, that's if you don't count his spoken poetry CD, Raven Songs 101, or his EP of demos called Between the Fence and the Universe. This is his first album for Northern Records (Raven Songs and Fence/Universe were both released independently after his split with Forefront Records, who released Stereotype), and I'm hoping he and his music have found a permanent home. You can listen to three of the songs from this upcoming release here.

The Emmys...

HOLD ON A SEC! I am posting on Sunday? (A first.) And about something OTHER than Harry Potter? (Rare anymore.) Wow. Call this a landmark day.

Anyway, on to the reason for my post...

I am going to watch the Emmys tonight; the nominees for Best Drama are:

The West Wing
Lost
Deadwood
24
Six Feet Under

Except for The West Wing, which I have never seen, I watch all those shows. If the nominating committee had switched out The West Wing for Alias I would have been a REALLY happy camper. Speaking of Alias, Jennifer Garner is nominated for best lead actress. Word on the street is it will go to Mariska Hargitay of Law and Order: SVU. OK, I admit I don't follow that show so I may not be the best person to judge, but from what I have seen I don't get the impression that there is ANY character development to Miss. Hargitay's role. Why is she nominated? For playing tough? Oooow! Real hard. Gimme a break. Give it Jennifer Garner whose character Sydney Bristow is three-dimensional. Besides, she is a great actress. I would even be happy if it went to Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under) or Glenn Close (The Shield). In fact, if I am being honest, Frances Conroy is probably the most deserving of the bunch; but I am still rooting for Jenn. Also, I just finished watching the forth season of Six Feet Under on DVD TODAY. It was absolutely incredible. It has my vote to win best drama, though rumor has it that Lost will be the winner. We will see later tonight.

UPDATE: Lost won best drama, and Patricia Arquette won the best acrtress award for Medium. Poor Mrs. Afleck!

Harry Potter News Galore...

Check out some French posters for the next HP flick. Also, rumor has it that the next trailer for Goblet of Fire will be released with Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (just a rumor, though the site I linked to seems to think it is a sure thing), and should appear online September 16th.

SPOILER ALERT!!!: If you want to see what is REPUTED to be an official pic from the upcoming HP movie click here.

New iPods and iTunes

On the heels of my iPod-related post yesterday comes today's!

As expected, Apple released the iTunes phone today...

but the BIG (read: unexpected) news today was the release of iPod nano, with a size somewhere between the shuffle and (the now discontinued) mini versions.

However, the only news relevant to me (I just don't need an iPod!) is an updated version of iTunes (which I DO use!!), now up to 5.0.

Big day over at Apple! Click here to see a video of Steve Jobs announcing the nano.
