Casting news for 24...

A new cast member has been added to the upcoming season of 24. If you want to know who click here. Also, apparently they are doing the "BIG" season premiere the same way they did last year, with 4 episodes airing over 2 nights. I can't wait!

More Harry Potter News...

It's official; Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has been rated PG-13 by the MPAA. Any thoughts on that? Personally, I think it will be for the best, even though it may alienate some parents who don't want their kids seeing such intense images. Will this film be as successful as the previous ones? I really doubt it will make much impact. The Lord of the Rings movies were all rated PG-13 and did just fine. Any loss of business the "more adult" rating may cause will probably be balanced out by appealing more to teens. After seeing the international trailer I have to say my interest in it is growing. Though I still have some nagging doubts about the flick, I am keeping an open mind about it and will try to judge it on its own merits. After all, none of the movies are as good as the books were!

SPOILER ALERT!!: If you want to get a sneak peak at what Ralph Fiennes character will look like in the upcoming film click here. (If you want to wait until the movie, obviously DON'T click the link!)

SAPOILER ALERT!!: Also, if you have read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (and only if you have read it) click the link at the end of this paragraph for an amusing t-shirt. (If you haven't read the book please, PLEASE, do not click the link! If you do you will learn major secrets contained within the book.) OK, here is the link. (Again, click at your own risk!)

Dashboard contest

For those of you running Apple OSX Tiger, a guy named Brian Stucki is holding a contest to win a $30 iTunes gift card. The person who sends in the most screenshots of dashboard in action (the screenshots, obviously, must each be different) will win the prize. Also, one lucky contestant will win a $30 iTunes gift certificate just for entering! Personally, I don't use dashboard, but might send in an entry just to try to win that! Wonder what the winning number of screenshots will be...

Thanks to The Unofficial Apple Weblog for the link.

Right click?!?!

Say it isn't so! Has Apple actually joined the world of right-clickers? With the release of the their new "Mighty Mouse," it appears so! Seems like Apple is trying to lure all the PC using iPod buyers into switching. After all, what is one of the most common complaints PC users have about Macs? No right click! Heck, even some Mac users complain about it! (Personally, I prefer the simplicity of one button clicking, but, hey, I'm a simply guy.) Whatever their motivation, it seems Apple can do no wrong these days. Not that Microsoft is an any danger of being de-throned as the king of computing just yet, but the bigger the slice of the computing pie (no pun intended) that Apple can get, the better!

On a quasi-related subject, my new iBook has arrived! The screen size (12") may be smaller than my old Powerbook (15"), but everything else is at least twice as powerful. It even has that cool scrolling trackpad! (Yet ANOTHER improvement in navigating Mac OS! They really are on a roll...)

No, the above image in not MY iBook, but it is representative of it. Cool, huh?

Trials and Tribulations of TV and the Internet

I'm always surfing the net for news about my favorite TV shows and I often come across valuable casting info and teasers that whet my appetite for upcoming episodes. For example, these tidbits on Alias and 24 (WARNING: casting and certain storyline spoilers included in both articles - read at your own risk!). Unfortunately, I also come across stories that ruin key plotlines. For example, just last night there was a major development on Six Feet Under and today the news has been all over the internet (If you want to know what happened click here). Since I don't get HBO and must wait months to watch the show on DVD, a lot of the suspense for the current and final season has been ruined. It's like watching The Sixth Sense knowing the twist ending. Now, obviously I put myself in the position to have these shows ruined because I am always snooping around, but is it really that hard to WARN people before revealing HUGE spoilers? I did above, didn't I? What I don't want to know are specifics about the storyline, but rather vague generalities - like casting info, and whether or not Jennifer Garner's real life pregnancy will be written into Alias - that shift my brain into theorizing overdrive. *SIGH* Maybe this will teach me some patience...or at least to not be so nosy.
